Jeni is currently continuing her daily journey at Forest School Group 3. Alongside her two close friends, Onyer and Aiko, as well as the rest of her companions, Jeni consistently demonstrates positive behavioural development, growing steadily into a more independent and capable wild orangutan.
Not much has changed about her personality. Jeni remains a true explorer at heart. Her strong natural instincts are clearly reflected in her daily routine, especially in her habit of building a new nest almost every day. For Jeni, nest-building is not merely about resting; it is an essential survival skill she continues to refine. At times, she can be seen carefully arranging branches and weaving leaves on her own high in the canopy. On other occasions, she works side by side with Aiko, building nests together.
True to her wild instincts, Jeni spends most of her time in the treetops. She rarely comes down to the ground, except during certain moments, such as when her surrogate mother calls her for supplemental feeding or when it is time to return to the complex. Otherwise, the forest canopy remains her favourite space to move freely, observe her surroundings, and rest.
Despite her independence, Jeni has a distinct sense of curiosity. Whenever the veterinary team visits the forest school area, she often descends slowly from her tree. With careful steps, she approaches and gently touches the edge of the veterinarian’s shirt or pants, as if trying to determine whether she recognises the person. Once her curiosity is satisfied, she climbs back up into the trees or occasionally plays briefly with Onyer near her caregiver.
One of Jeni’s most admirable qualities is her high level of tolerance. When she once returned to a sturdy nest she had carefully built, only to find another orangutan had already occupied and even dismantled it, Jeni chose to yield rather than react with anger or aggression. Calmly, she moved away and began building a new nest from scratch. Sometimes she did it alone; other times, she teamed up again with Aiko.
Her peaceful, patient, and tolerant nature makes Jeni truly special. Amid the lush canopy of Forest School Group 3, she continues to grow not only as a skilled explorer but also as a composed and socially mature individual preparing for her future in the wild.
