Upon graduation from the European School of Osteopathy (UK) in 1999, with a B.Sc. (hons) in Osteopathy and Diploma in Osteopathy, Simon moved to Milan, Italy searching further challenges.

Although his patient list was primarily sedentary or manufacturing industry workers, his experience includes regularly treating some of Europe’s most elite ballerinas, contemporary dancers and maestri at La Scala, Milano and Studio Danza Insieme, professional tennis and basketball players, and elite level gymnasts.

Simon’s treatment success lies in the combining of tried and tested techniques with the creation of techniques developed for the actual presenting problem, not dividing, but integrating musculoskeletal, visceral and cranial body systems.

Simon firmly believes in treating the sapling so the tree grows straight, and so has been treating and helping infants for many years, especially his 3 young children who are his best advertisements.

While running a successful practice and, gaining 14 years of experience in teaching & clinical roles at the International College of Osteopathic Education, he completed a pitch-side medical assistance course in Scotland and an advanced course in Sports Osteopathy with the University of Bicocca Milan. Over the years, Simon has organised either the osteopathic services or the full medical services at the Milan Marathon, 2 ATP Tennis Challenger, 3 ATP Tennis Futures level tennis tournaments and at the AFL European Cup held in Italy in 10/2012 that included 15 teams arriving from all over Europe.

He is also a PTR registered tennis coach, an avid skier and, also hopes to return to the basketball court after returning to his hometown after nearly 20 years abroad.

Sophie Fletcher — Pilates Instructor

Cert IV Mat Based Pilates

Sophie graduated from the Australian Ballet School with an Advanced Diploma of Dance in 2003. During her training she received several scholarships and awards both for achievements in dance and academic excellence.

On graduating she joined The Australian Ballet performing with the company for the next 4 years. She travelled extensively overseas with the company and was also awarded a travel scholarship in 2005 which enabled her to take classes with major American ballet companies including New York City Ballet, Houston Ballet, San Francisco Ballet and Pacific Northwest Ballet in Seattle. In 2008 Sophie joined the West Australian Ballet as a guest artist and remained there for the next 2 years performing in many critically acclaimed productions. She then joined the Czech National Ballet at the invitation of the director Petr Zuska and performed many notable classical and contemporary roles. Most recently Sophie appeared as Princess Aurora in Prague Festival Ballet’s Sleeping Beauty during its tour of Germany.

Sophie’s connection to pilates began at age 11 as an adjunct to her ballet training and she continued to practise it regularly throughout her career. Sophie is convinced pilates helped her to stay injury free during her career by building a strong, healthy body and mind to cope with the stresses of a demanding career. It also enabled her to maintain optimal fitness during off-peak times of work. In 2015 Sophie retired from the stage and returned to Australia to pursue her second passion-pilates. She was inspired by her instructor Andrew Baxter to consider pilates instruction as a career and completed her certificate IV and is continuing to study for her Diploma. Pilates has become an integral part of Sophie’s life and she hopes her broad experience will offer her clients a unique approach. Pilates provides a whole body work-out integrating mind and body with balanced training of separate muscle groups thus keeping joints and muscles healthy and happy.

Sophie is now enjoying living bayside and is exploring different pursuits such as running and bike riding and she has also been a yoga devotee for many years.

Sophie works as a Pilates Instructor at our Elwood clinic.

Yoga Instructor

Kerstin Schnekenburger — Yoga Instructor

Kerstin has a background in gymnastics and after attending her first yoga class in 2009, she was immediately fascinated by the gentle approach of the physical practice of yoga.

The greatest gift of Kerstin’s yoga journey so far has been changing the mindset from pushing the body to performing externally defined movements, to honouring what body and mind need.

Kerstin experienced the benefits of precise anatomical alignment tailored to each individual student first hand. She is determined to passing this on in her teachings whilst encouraging her students to value and trust their own inner teacher.

Kerstin completed her Advanced Diploma in Yoga Teaching in 2012 and is currently absolving her Postgraduate Yoga Teacher Training – Yoga Australia’s first registered Postgraduate Training Course.

In addition to yoga, Kerstin enjoys her new role as a mum, follows her passion for sustainability and education and looks forward to skiing untouched snow covered slopes with her friends in Germany/Austria.

Kerstin works as a Yoga Instructor at our Elwood clinic.
